Make your own calzone

Making dinner for a group of people with different tastes? Calzones are the answer! I made these with my family when I went home for Christmas.

First – find out what everyone wants! We had several requests, including sausage, salami and veggies.

Cook any meat/vegetables in a skillet. Also, cut up the dough and use a rolling pin to flatten on a floured surface.

Assemble calzones. I had a vegetarian – spinach, broccoli, onion, tomato & cheese. Fold the calzone in half and use a fork to pinch together the edges. Bake until the tops are golden.

Yum! Use some tomato sauce for dipping if you prefer.

Ingredients
  • 1 lb pizza dough
  • flour
  • meat of your choice (used ham, salami and sausage)
  • cheese of your choice (used mozzarella and Parmesan)
  • tomato sauce
  • vegetables of your choice (used spinach, broccoli, onions, peppers, mushrooms and tomatoes)
  • cooking spray.
Directions
  • Cook vegetables and meat to taste.
  • Cut pizza dough into fours. Roll flat with hands or rolling pin on top of flour.
  • Preheat oven to 425. Spray baking sheet with cooking spray. Place each piece of dough on the sheet. Add toppings to each person's taste. Fold top half of dough over the bottom half to form a calzone and press the edges together using a fork. Bake until golden brown (about 20 minutes).
