RecipeCan at Island Creek Oyster Bar

What an exciting brunch! I can’t believe it has been one year since the Boston Brunchers formed – Happy Birthday! This weekend we had such a great party at Island Creek Oyster Bar in Kenmore.

The restaurant was kind enough to host us and provided an outstanding menu along with perfect service! I loved the huge space and the decor – I can’t believe the walls were filled with oyster shells!

In addition to ICO, there were tons of sponsors and all the brunchers got HUGE swag bags.

Everything in it was amazing but I particularly loved the Cooks Illustrated Cookbook by America’s Test Kitchen – can’t have too many of those!

Disclaimer: Brunch was provided at no charge to me but the opinions are my own.

Brunch started off with ICOB’s Signature Pastries. I heard the doughnut muffin was amazing but, not being a huge fan of sweets, I stuck to the butter croissant, which was also tasty.

No brunch would be complete without a cocktail of course! I had the McCarthy’s Crossing cocktail – a drink that was perfect for fall. I would never let a cocktail go to waste so I also had some of a fellow bruncher’s Bloody Mary. I enjoyed both but would recommend McCarthys because it was so unique and flavorful.

Now on to the main course. There were several choices but I went with the lobster roll – delicious!

The roll was so fresh and balanced with the right amount of bread. And of course I loved the crispy potato chips. This is definitely a dish worthy of bringing my Mom out to brunch for (from Florida mind you…hi mom!).

In addition to food and swag, there were TONs of prizes from the sponsors. I personally won a gift certificate to Arax Market, which I can’t wait to use!

Thanks again to ICOB, all the sponsors and of course, Renee for putting this all together. I am looking forward to another year with the BBs!

I’ve been hearing excellent things about Arax lately – I need to get over there!

Though I am thrilled about the prize I won (brunch at Langham), I would have been pretty happy with the Arax GC too. Have you been? It’s a fantastic store.
